I've been getting my oil change for 6 years using regular or at Firestone I was really took it to Precision Tune they informed me that my car take synthetic oil. I did the oil change there and immediately afterwards on the way home the oil light came on my car telling me to stop engine soon as low oil pressure. I take the car back they put it on their machine and tell me I need to oil cam sensor. I get a second opinion go to AutoZone they put it on their machine they tell me I need to cam gear. I know enough that it if I needed to cam gear that the engine was completely stopped. The car was not doing this beforehand and the car is running fine now no ticking no knocking other than the light coming on. Please help

Good morning,

Can you give me the code number that was set? It would be in the format of P and 4 numbers.

Your oil light came on? Did anyone check the oil level to be sure there is enough oil in the motor?

Okay, then why did the light come on and tell you to stop?

Do you have the code for the cam sensor issue?

I don't know why the light came on. For 6 years the oil change has been done using regular oil Thursday synthetic oil was used. I am asking you why it would come on? And if it's the cam gear I know that would lick the motor up. I'm getting you the codes. Precision tune told me one thing which is oil cam sensor buy using their machine. AutoZone told me cam gear. I pretty much know those readings are false. I know my car and a little about vehicles. But being a woman i'm not trying to let these mechanics out here rip me off.

There is no code listed on the work order. It just says camshaft position senor. I need the code. If there is another code, please list it.

The code is for the cam sensor but is most likely electrical. Since they changed the oil and it just happened, I would have the connector checked to see if it is a clean solid connection. It may just be the connection.

I posted possibilities below for you to review.

No, not at all. That has to do with the oil itself. You need to have the oil pressure tested to be sure you actually have the correct pressure when you start it up.

What weight oil did the shop use when they changed your oil?

That's actually what the car is doing. I'm not sure Precision tune did it.

If it did not do this prior to the oil change then it has to do with either what they did or the oil and filter they used.

Can you upload the receipt for the oil change?

Can I quote you on this or have some kind of verification that it's their fault. Because my car was definitely not doing this. Prior to the oil change.

I cannot tell if it is there fault at all. I am here and not there. Testing needs to be done that I have mentioned to you to find out why the oil light is on.

You most likely need a second opinion from another shop to see what is causing the issue. They will be able to have the car in front of them, unlike myself, and can do the proper testing to determine the issue.
