The heater works when it wants to. Cold in the morning and get half way to work before it starts to blow. Also, any idea on location of blower motor?

Hi,

The blower motor is under the dash and behind the glove box. There is a good chance the motor is going bad. Here is how to check one. The attached picture correlates with the directions.

INSPECTION

See pic 1

1. Connect the battery voltage and check the blower motor rotation.
2. If the blower motor voltage is not operated well, substitute with a known-good blower motor and check for proper operation.
3. If the problem is corrected, replace the blower motor.

If you determine the blower motor is bad, here is a link that shows in general how one is replaced. It may help when you replace yours.

Here are the directions specific to your vehicle for replacing it. The remaining pictures correlate with the directions.

2. Disconnect the connector (A) of the blower motor.

3. Remove the blower motor (A) after loosening the mounting screws.
4. Installation is the reverse order of removal.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions. I do have one other question. When it does decide to turn on, does it work on all speeds or is it limited to high speed only?

Take care,

Joe

Unit works on all speeds. I cannot duplicate the no run issue that my daughter states. But I did find that her cabin filter has not been changed since the car was purchased. 13 years ago. It was rather ugly which may have put some strain on the motor. Going to put it all back together and see what happens. I do have a new resistor for it but going to hold off putting it in as all speeds work.

Hi,

If that filter is totally plugged, it will restrict air flow. Perhaps that is what she is experiencing. Let me know if that takes care of the issue or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
