Usually when you have the switch set in ALC - automatic lamp control then depending on outside light conditions like being dark the lights will stay on after vehicle is shut off for 30 seconds on a timer. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

It sounds like there might be problem with the timer. The timer is built into the body control module. The body control module is located inside the left hand of the dash board and can be slightly pricey. You might want to have tested before replacement to cost and having to be programmed to your car. Have you noticed if all the exterior lights are performing correctly otherwise? Just to be on the same page did you state that when you turn the key off in automatic mode the headlights don't stay on for the 30 seconds by timer? Hope this helps and let us know. It sounds like the BCM is out. Here is the location and how to replace it in the diagrams below. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.
