On my car listed above GT model manual, the first problem we had was the engine would just quit after driving about ten miles, would not start for a couple of hours. Now it will not start at all. We have crank but no start. We have a new battery, checked the ICM three times it tested good. We removed the computer module to check to see if there were any burn marks or broken connections, the computer seems to be good. We have no spark to the coil, we changed the coil, nothing. We were told this sounds like a PIP problem but we do not want to change parts if it is not the problem. We have tried to scope the engine with a meter, but it will not connect to any meters so we can not get any codes on the problem.

Help!

Good afternoon.

There is a pick up coil in the distributor. You can check that with an ohm meter. You will need to check the two wires for it. You should have between the 800-1100 ohms for a good reading.

How do I check it? Do I unplug the harness that comes out of the distributor and which two wires is the pick up coil? Do I need to take the distributor out?

OK, you said before you tried to scope it? Did you scope it off the negative of the coil?

An under dash scanner was used and would not collect any data. We changed the coil and that was not the problem
