I was installing an LED light bar today when I accidentally touched the positive terminal on the battery while the wrench was on the ground screw. Now my gauge cluster is showing the e-brake light thesis light and the maintenance now light and the check engine light are on and the truck is running like it is missing.

I had filled up my vehicle with gas and drove about 80 miles on a trip. While driving back home, the truck started missing while excelerating. This has been several days ago and the truck is still missing really bad. The service engine soon light has not come on. I took it and had it hooked up the a computer and it did not show anything. What could possibly be wrong and what should I do to try to get it repaired?

Maybe bad gas it was O.K. Then gased up and miss. Maybe water in fuel or was fuel Ethenol?

Yesterday our pickup's check engine light came on. Everything was fine. Had put on computer which showed no codes or problems. Check engine light went off yesterday evening. Had rained a lot yeterday and during day engine seemed to start to miss, like maybe water in the gas tank. We did have to drive through some water but maybe four inches deep and not driving fast. Today, ran a few errands and check engine light came back on. No misses, this stopped yesterday evening. Seemed okay. While turning a corner on my way home the truck just died out. Moter turned off. Steered off the road and restarted truck with no problems. Came home, which was about 7 miles and was pulling into driveway it died again. Not sure about this now. Have any ideas?

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.

2004 Ford F-150 Triton 4.6L. 56,000 miles, Battery died 2 weeks ago, replaced it and ever since "check engine light" has been on. I disconnected negative battery cable for 15 minutes, still on. It also shuts off at idle or turns, not idling as high as it should. No change in idle speed when A/C is turned on/off.

Good evening.

Pulling a cable does nothing. It fixes nothing. All it does is make the ECM forget the code as it will return.

I do need the code that is set. From your description, it sounds like the idle air control.

I have 2004 f150 xlt in which the battery went out. I have replaced battery but now trucks is idoling wrong and sometimes dies when I slow down after driving. I have been told it was the computer and it needs to be reset. I went through the owners manual of how to reset computer but it did not work and to boot a light has come on the dash. What is this light? It looks like and engine is this the check engine light or emmisions light?
I would really like to fix this problem so I feel it is either the computer is not set or I must have a vacuum leak some where. Any suggestions?

Usually after the computer is reset after hte battery is connected it has to be driven for about 50 - 100 miles to readjust to your driving habbits again. Give it some time and if that doesnt help post back.

Crossed plug wires changing them out and now service engine soon light is on. Corrected wires and need to reset light

I do not know your rig!----I usually stay with stuff I know well.I answer in the Jeep CJs a lot.

Many times, disconnecting the Battery for a few minutes will reset stuff!

Saw you had been waiting, I figgered I'd Try!

I have a check engine light comes on once in a while, mostly in cold weather. I have been able to read then erase with my scanner. Now my scanner won't work on my truck. It works on others. Could I have a bad pcm that isn't sending out the codes?

Pin 16 at the datalink connector, does it have voltage? Hot all the time.

No OBD on my 2004 F150, Tritron 4.6. Truck has 55000 miles on it. When you hook up the OBD it reads not reading data, please try again. I have had several attempts to bring this Truck to repair places but they cannot help. The Check Engine Lite is on but I cannot read the Computer? Any help? It was at the Dealer last year for an EGR valve and came on again just recently. I cannot get it smogged. Thanks.
