I replaced my clutch and now when turning it sounds like my brakes are grinding. During the clutch replacement I didn"t remove any bolts from the brake system.

Hi,

Have you inspected the brakes to confirm they are not the issue? Also, does the sound change when you apply the brakes?

When you reinstalled the axles (CV axles) did you torque the axle nuts and are you sure the axles are fully mounted into the transmission? Here are the axle torques:

Torque :
for Automatic Transaxle -
216 Nm (2203 kgf-cm, 159 ft-lbf)

Torque :
for Manual Transaxle -
292 Nm (2978 kgf-cm, 215 ft-lbf)

Let me know.

Joe

Yes, axle is torqued to spec and I did the brakes about 6 months ago. Prior to working on the clutch there was no issue at all.

I would suggest checking the brakes even though they are somewhat new. Also, check wheel bearings for play. Also, let me know if the sound is the same in each direction and if it is louder one way or the other.

Let me know.

Sound only happens when turning, right makes noise when turning left and left makes noise when turning right. Sound is about even both directions.

I have to be honest, recheck to make sure the axles are fully seated into the transmission. It sounds like they aren't.

Let me know what you find. Also, I'm showing 2011 as the last year for the TC. Is the year you indicated correct?

Hey, so just checked the torque again and that was the issue. Thank you for getting me to recheck that. But the TC was made up to 2016.

Hi,

Great to hear you found it. When you mentioned it happening when turning, I had a feeling.

As far as the model year, for some unknown reason, my manual doesn't show one for 2012. Ugh! I have no idea why.

Regardless, I'm glad it's fixed. Please feel free to come back anytime in the future. You are always welcome here.

Take care,
Joe
