What might cause the oil pressure to rise drastically when you step on the gas? Also has a tapping sound in the top end. :(

Oil pressure will always rise when accelerating, on how much will depend on what viscocity the oil is, whether it be 5w or 10w, first to look for and easiest is the oil level, and while looking there, look at the color and thickness, is it black or fresh looking, is it thick or thin, does it have water spots on the dipstick, I would do an oil change and make sure you are using the manufacturers recomendations for you truck and also figure in the weather climate, if this didnt help, then we can look at some other problems. The top end tapping is probably the lifters, does they tick all the time or just at start up, which is low or dirty oil.
