Left turn signal only

My 1992 Buick Regal Custom with 100K+ miles, left turn signal will work only when the steering wheel and turn signal lever are held in a precise position. It still flashes and will shut itself off after making a turn, and the right turn signal works perfectly. Is this a problem with the turn signal flasher, turn signal switch, or something else? Thank you!

I also have a '92 Regal Custom, and have almost the same problem, but the opposite direction (Left works fine, Right gives me some trouble.) Not sure if it will help you out much, but I saved a trip to the mechanic just by tapping around a bit on the signal lever. A mechanically-able friend of mine suggested the lever just might be a little loose, so I lightly tapped it back toward the steering column with a light rubber mallet, and it still gets a little fussy every once in awhile, but it's improved greatly from what it was before.
