Before I replaced my water pump, my car was having problems with the windshield fogging up and have a real strong smell of anti-freeze. But it only did it sometimes. I didnt think that it would be a big problem. Is it possible that a heater cord could have made my car overheat or blow a head gasket or even crack the engine! This overheating just happened last night, but the heater core has been giving me problems since I bought it.

With the heater core leaking coolant it can cause the level of the coolant in the engine to get dangerously low. Once this occurs the engine will overheat. They only way to tell if the engine has been damaged, is by doing a compressions check or a leak down test.
