99 Buick Regal LS. Fuel Gauge Inoperative When the car is started the gauge will read full after a few moments it will read empty, but when I take the car for a ride the gauge will register momentarly before it goes back to full. Is this problem in the dash cluster or the tank?

The fuel gauge sending unit is part of the fuel pump assembly and is in the gas tank. It will require dropping the gas tank and replacing the assembly. A lot of times a good mechanic can buy an after mafket fuel sending unit and make it work. It is a costly job. Around $350 to $500. Insure you have a small amount of gas when you take it in. Good Luck
