Sometimes my jimmy will fire but not start. Leave it sit for 15 minutes, try it again, and it starts.

I've been told it may be the security system thinks it's the wrong key, so it won't allow the car to start until the security system resets itself, (15-20 min.).

do you think this could be the problem, and what can I do about it?

Is the security light on or flashing when you try to start it?

The light is supposed to come on and go right back off so I'm assuming it remains flashing after trying to start it. If this is a the case, then there is an intermittent failure in the system. The most common problem is the ignition lock and the sensor inside it but you would need a Tech2 scan tool to diagnose it properly.
