I'm about to change my fuel pump any tips you could tell me? Such as the best way to drop the Gas tank.

Drop spare tire and remove filler hose. Loosen tank straps and lower tank down just enough to reach fuel pump top, no need in completely dropping tank.

I've done this twice on our '97 Jimmy. My preference is to completely drop the tank. And of course to have it as near to empty as possible prior to repair. The fuel sloshing around in the tank, and it being a fairly long tank, can make for quite a wrestling match.

If your tank is just like mine, there is a small vent on the top of the tank, at the front. Don't miss disconnecting that vent hose before you lower the tank. It can snap off the neck on the vent & a new one is $18.
