1996 GMC Jimmy engine stalls when hot, after 2 hours on roa

After a few hours car stalls, takes 10 min to cool then it runs, also sometimes stalls at idle, getting worse, stalls with increaseing frequency, replaced voltage regulator, word on street it maybe something with the fuel-throttle something, someone else said the catalatic converter, makes no sense to me. Help, please
