Hello,

It sounds like the vehicle speed sensor has gone out here is the location. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Changed cluster because tachometer and speedometer did not work, after change, tachometer now works, everything on vehicle works fine except speedometer. I put my solus on, no codes. I did a cluster sweep check everything works, also changed speed sensor.
Kind of lost here.

Check wire to see if it is broken or to much resistance like partially grounding out. It may need programming if you have not already done that.

I have not been able to establish a program procedure for the speedometer, was replaced with known working cluster from same year. I do know that then BCM was replaced before I got it for other issues.

I think that may be the problem is it needs to be programmed to the car like the whole dash even if everything works.

My speedometer is not working properly. Sometimes I can be speeding and it will be on about 20 mph. Sometimes it won't go up at all, just sit on 0.

Most newer clusters are VIN locked. They need to have that updated to allow it to display speed and miles. Takes a dealer code to let you get to the VIN lock.

After I drive around 250 miles my speedometer slowly starts to drop and after time sits below zero. Once I get to my destination and turn the car off for a while it starts to work again. What could cause this? Thanks! Go Air Force!

Contact GM about a TSB (technical service bulletin) concerning erratic speedometer operation.

This should be a free or reduced cost repair.

I too am having similiar issues. We first noticed it started happening when the cold weather hit (and it didn't happen all the time). Since then, it has become a common occurance, regardless of weather - almost all the time. I can be driving 30 mph, and the speedometer reads 70'ish with no apparant correlation to the actual speed traveling.

Is there a TSB # that I can reference when making the call? The last thing I want to do is be on hold for a while and then not be able get any help.
