2002 GMC Envoy four wheel drive

I would like to know what to look for, because the four wheel drive will not kick in. All 4x4 on sector switch no working when trying to put in the following. All four wheel, lo 4x4, Hi 4x4. The check engine light came on, but shore if that has anything to do with it.

Hi:
Have the computer scanned at a nationally recognized parts store to determine why the light is on. Let me know what you find.

As far as the 4wd, you will need to see if you are getting power to the actuator on the transfercase. If it is, the actuator may need replaced. If no, you need to see if there is power to the switch.
