Hello, I have a tired '92 GMC Suburban 5.7L Automatic 2WD that is acting like it is starving for fuel when cold starting. I crank it up and it runs a couple of seconds and shuts off. I have to repeat this several times and each time it runs a little longer until it finaly starts and runs normal. This only happens when it is shut down and cooled for a couple of hours. I changed the fuel filter and cleaned the fuel injectors checked to see if the fuel pump is working and the throtle body injectors are getting fuel. It seems to be an electrical issue rather than a fuel system issue. I did have to replace the distributor the last (2) tune ups, could the distributor be going bad again and if so what is the issues with the distributor? Thank you in advance for any ideas anyone may have.

Hi:
First I recommend having the fuel pressure tested. It may be getting fuel, but not enough to stay running until it warms. Next, have the computer scanned for codes. Let me know if there are any. Finally, if you have good fuel pressure and no codes, you may need to have the compression tested.

Let me know what you find.

Joe
