I am told dealer can give code to door.
After dealing with dealers getting no where with lift gate, is there a way around the dealer?

Do you mean the exterior key less entry code that you punch in on the keypad? If yes then there really is not an easy way around it without either a good scan tool or the dealership. They can connect up and retrieve the permanent code in about a minute. You will need to bring the vehicle and proof of ownership and ID.

Is this a three door Sport model or the full sized five door? There is a different way on those but it does take a bit of work, and interior trim removal.

Pull back the weatherstrip at the driver side c-pillar panel and pull out on the panel and you will see the module with a sticker that has the number on it. A mirror might be necessary.

Depends on which model. The four door it is on that module, the two door it is behind the glove box and you need to remove the module to read the sticker.

Very true, but the one behind the c-pillar I use a mirror. Our IDS locks up frequently so I have to macguiver the situation or lose time and money.
