Instrument cluster is very dim

1. The DIC is very dim, especially in daylight.
Does it have its own bulb light, or is it using a fiberoptic to light it?

How does the dash panel by the windshield come out, so I can get to the screw that holds the gauge cover on?

2. Will a CTS coupe trunk accept a CTS-V third brake light or are the trunk lids actually different?
I know that the third brake light is higher and longer than a standard one. (CHMS)

This sounds like the element in the DIC has failed but there is a chance that you have a faulty dimmer switch. Have you noticed if all the lights in the dash like the steering wheel controls are dim as well?

If they are all dim, then the switch is most likely the issue.

However, if it is just the information center then that is most likely going to need to be replaced as there is no bulb.

I am attaching all the info, but you can check the voltage when moving the dimmer switch to see if the voltage is moving as well. Here is a guide that will help with this:
