Hi, my car starts and idles for a few seconds then it cuts out. What could be the problem?

It could be a security issue. Is there a security light or theft light remaining on or flashing?

Only a engine management light.

The link features an article with written step by step instructions and pictures explaining how to do the scan yourself. This is applicable even if your check engine light is not on.
