Car listed above SE model. Having trouble keeping it running. Have replaced the fuel pump relay, pump and filter. Turn key to accessories can hear the pump, car starts for 5 seconds or so then shuts off. Turn key off, back to acc then to start and it will run again but always shuts off. Any ideas?

Hello,

This could be a problem with your vehicle's Idle Air Control valve motor (IAC). This valve is what allows the air to go around the closed throttle plate when the vehicle is it at idle. In the diagrams down below I have included factory diagnostic troubleshooting guide for testing your vehicle's IAC as well as instructions for the removal and installation of the IAC. Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex

I pulled zero codes, then replaced the fuel pump relay, fuel pump, external fuel filter. Continues to have the same problem, key to acc, key to run, car will start for a couple seconds and then shut down. Now, I read codes and I got a PO1768. In my Haynes manual I don't even have this code. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

I also do not show Direct Trouble Code(DTC) P1768 in the list of DTC's for your vehicle in either of the reference guides that we use. The actual DTC is for a problem with the Lock Up Solenoid of an Automatic Transmission. In the diagrams down below I have included a more extensive diagnostic troubleshooting flowchart to test your vehicle's Idle Air Control valve(IAC). You will need to use a multimeter to do these tests, so I have included a link below, if you are unfamiliar with how to use one.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-a-test-light-circuit-tester

Please go through these flowcharts and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello again,

I don't want to sound condescending, but do you have gas in your vehicle? If you notice the engine will pick up, then the gas light comes on and your vehicle shuts off. I would put some gas in your vehicle and then try to start your vehicle again.

Thanks,
Alex

Good morning,
I have added fuel and still have the same results. I will try and upload a video again today. Any other ideas of what may be wrong with my stratus?

The list of replaced items continues to grow :

Hello,

Okay, We will get this tracked down one way or another. So here is the first 17 no start diagnostic troubleshooting flowchart tests that Dodge gives it's factory trained techs to track down the specific cause of a no start condition. Please go through the guide and get back to us with what you are able to find out. We will go from there. Please be patient, work with us, and we will get this figured out.

Thanks,
Alex

Yes, they have a history of causing trouble. In power distribution center should be labeled or owners manual (excuse me while I laugh)

I don't mind people poking a little fun and I can take it in stride. Are you being serious about the shutdown relay?

I have looked at the schematic for the relay and I cannot find a ASD relay anywhere, just ASD on a fuse. I will send a photo of the under hood box and maybe you will see something I don't.
Thank you,
Jeff

Any ideas of where the ASD relay may be other than underhood? I just find ASD attached to a fuse.

Thank you.

Doc, I had no idea there were relays in that. I changed out the ASD relay just encase the original was weak. Thank you for all your help in getting my commuter back on the road.
