I changed the fuel pump in the van. I went to prime the lines and I didn’t hear the hum of the fuel pump working. The van will not turn over but acts like it wants to. The battery drained in the proceeds and was charged but still can’t get it to start.

Hi,

If you aren't hearing the pump, it may not be getting power, or the new one could be faulty. So, the first thing I suggest is to check the fuel pressure to see if there is any.

Here is a link that explains how to check it:

You will need a fuel pressure gauge, but most parts stores will lend one to you.

If the pump isn't turning on, I need you to next check fuse 17 in the under-hood power distribution module. If that is good, switch the fuel pump relay with a different one having the same part number to see if that makes a difference.

Note: Fuse 17 should have power at all times regardless of the ignition key position. Confirm there is power.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe
