1997 Ford Windstar steering noise

When I turn the steering wheel in either direction there is a loud skreetching noise thaty doesnt let up until the steering wheel is released.I checked the power steering fluid and it remains full.I still have easy steering but the noise is very loud. Any suggestions?

Might have air in the system causing cavitation. Is the fluid bubbly?

The belt may be slipping also. IF you watch it while someone else turns the wheel you may be able to pick it out.

IF nothing conclusive, use a stethescope to help narrow down the noise source. I would start at the pump. PRobably is the pump.
