There is one last bolt that you can't see, and you can't feel. I have a 2000 Taurus, and I also had to remove the Y pipe, and had the same problem. There is a very narrow space near the passenger side, with a gap of about an inch. You need to take a long socket extension (preferably 1/2 inch), with a 15mm socket (I could be wrong, it could be 13mm), and rake it along this gap until you feel a bump. Then you have to use trial and error to get the socket onto the nut. The nut is about 6 or 7 inches above this slot, and it's on an angle. You'll find it, but you just have to keep at it.
Don't you just love Fords?
