Automatic tranmsission shifting with high RPMs

My 1997 taurus lx likes to shift gears and the rpms go up, it does this going 45-50 mph and again around 70 mph, then the car feels like it is bumping. What can be the problem?

Sounds like the forward clutchs are shot and the tranny is slipping. How about reverse? Any problems there?

I suggest you go to a reputable tranny shop and have them check it[probably @ no cost]
