I have a 99 ford tauras. About 97000 miles. Had head gaskets fixed in april. Now car is sometimes blowing white smoke. Goes through alot of oil. Had an oil change used 20/50 in one week the dip stick showed min. Mark. Instead of max mark. Mechanic checked and said test showed pistons and gasket are fine. Also makes a clicking noise when accellerating. Please help what could be wrong.

If it is definitely white smoke, that's coolant, clicking could be a whole gaggle of possibilities. I would have someone competent perform a leakdown test to confirm or deny another headgasket problem as soon as possible. Why would you use 20 50 oil, calls for 5 30

Thanks, I'll get the leakdown test done right away. The reason used 20/50 was mechanic said change to thicker oil to see if it would'nt burn as fast but obviously that wasn't the probelm. Thanks again.
