2002 Ford Taurus Light Flashing/Car running awful

I let my car get low on gas and the fuel light came on. We filled up and went on. After we had driven 2 hours my car started running rough and doesn't have get up and go.I have checked air filter and it is fine. Is there something I can do to keep a high repair bill I can't afford becoming reality? I am a nurse and I don't want to let patients down by not getting to them. HELP! Tina

Hi Tina
flashing check engine light is an indication of a misfire
very possible it need a tune up
have to check for code 1st
also make sure coil is firing all cylinder as it is a very common failure
