Ok, So finally my taurus is broken, and when I turn the car to the on position I cannot hear the fuel pump working, which I did hear when it was working. The problem was intermittent to begin with, sometimes the fuel pump would work (i heard it) and when it did work it never died while it was running. Anyways, what possible problems could it be besides a bad fuel pump or is it definitely the fuel pump. I'm asking because a new pump costs 300 bucks. Also How can I trouble shoot this or find a way to look at the components that would prevent the fuel pump from working? Thanks

When 1st key on and while engine cranking fuel pump should be on
best if you can check for power at the pump connector

also you may try this have a helper crank it as you hit the mid of the tank with a rubber mallet
if that get it started for sure you need new fuel pump
