1998 Ford Taurus what could be wrong

Electrical problem
1998 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Automatic 98,265 miles

wednesday sa I was driving my battery light came on. So I turned around and came home. Well on the way home I lost everything. Dash lights, power, all the insturments on the dash. Nothing worked. The car acted like I was out of gas. Then all of the sudden everything came back on. The battery light came back on one more time.
Today my husband took it to the auto place and they tested the following: battery 12.49v, 709cca
starter-10.95v
alternator-no load-13.66v
loaded 13.58v.

could my alt be bad and need to be changed. Please help

It's likely an intermittent problem with the alternator. Those readings are a little low too. The battery seemed to die awful quickly when the alternator wasn't charging so I might have some concerns about that too.
