If I drive for more than 15 minutes, stop the engine &
then try to start the engine it sputters and dies. If I wait 15 minutes or longer it starts with no trouble. I
can start & stop the engine many times with no trouble in short hops. When the engine is operating
the engine is fine. Does not die out.
My theory is the problem may be in the starting
phase.
Local mechanics could not find the problem.
If I can get the answer & it works, I will gladly pay the going rate.

Hello,

First off I take it that the engine light is not on, correct?

If so then here are 2 possible causes.

Clogged Fuel Filter - When was it last changed? If fuel filter is full of debri it will usually settle in the bottom when it sets for a while then once running again and fuel is moving it stirs up the debri and cloggs the filter again.

Bad Gas Cap - Try leaving it loose and see what happens. If this fixes problem it means that the gas cap is not venting and creating vacuum in the tank and after a certin amount of vacuum is reached in the tank the pump cannot pump properly. And after sitting for 15 or so minutes vacuum is gone till driven for another 15 or so minutes.
