Twice now my RPMs have dropped so low the car nearly cut off on me while idling. Once, the a/c cut off. When I accelerate after this, the car acts as if it were in neutral. Any suggestions? I was told to check my air filter, but I'm not sure.

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Have you checked fuel pump pressure?

Let me know what you find.

Check engine light doesn't turn on, and the fuel filter is doing okay. I'm not sure how to check vacuum leaks.

Check the hoses on the engine for being disconnected, dry rotted, or wear.
