Engine Performance problem
1997 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 97 ford taurus 3.0. It revs up on it's own, I was told to replace the IAC, TPS and EGR, so I did all three. And it didn't fix the situation. While driving I can feel the car trying to speed up on its own. While at a stop, in gear, it will idle around 1500 RPMs, if I put it in neutral it will jump to about 5000-6000 RPMs. I'm at a loss on what to fix now. Can anyone help?

If it is going to 5 or 6K RPM's none of the things you replaced will fix it. Have you checked to make sure the throttle plate in the throttle body is tight and there are no problems with the throttle cable to it?

How do I test the Throttle Body to see if it's good or not? I would hate to buy that $275.00 part an dit not be the issue. If I cover the intake part of the TB it has good suction, to the point it will cut the car off. What would cause the TB to make the car REV sporadically?
Thanks

The throttle plate is in the bottom of the throttle body. It looks like a butterfly. When you give the engine gas, it opens and allows more air to enter the engine. Make sure when the engine is at an idle, it is closed. At that point, the idle air control valve allows air to enter the engine so the it doesn't die. If the throttle plate is staying open, it will cause the rpm's to increase.

I checked the throttle Body and the butterfly plate is seated very well when cars at idle. IAC working well too. Any other suggestion? I'm getting really lost :-( I also checked the PVC valve and hose, great suction there too.
