I have a 97 taurus, it sat for 6 months and after that it just dont want to stay idleing it rev up to 3500 then back down to about 800 and back and forth till you drive down the road its fine then when u stop it does it more.I heard it could be the idle air control what do you think?

Sounds like a bad IAC module to me since it is varying greatly in its changes.

Replacing it shoudl fix it right up, if not check for vaccum leaks and change the gas and fuel filter.
