1996 Ford Taurus Will not start

The car quit while taking a off ramp my wife coasted to a parking lot. I checked the car and it would not start. It just clicks like a dead battery. The battery is strong so I thought it was in the starter but it is turning over and then checked the oil and it was not even on the dip stick. So is there a way I can check to see if the motor is locked up and if so is there a way to unlock it. Thank you.

1st add oil try to turn the engine by placing a wrench on the crank and try turning the engine
and if no luck engine no good
