1996 Ford Taurus Taurus doesn't start

Earlier today my 96 taurus decided to not start. It won't turn over. It clicks only once. The battery and alternator are fine though. I got it to start once about 2 hours later but after I turned it off it won't start again

Click once !
Does the light go out and then return?
Remove battery terminals check, clean and re tighten
check starter S terminal wire (small wire )
if have power when ignition in start position and engine not cranking, suspect bad starter
