I have a 95 Ford taurus, V6 3.8L( I think), automatic, with 192,000 miles. I'm concerned about it running rough lately.I'm a poor college student and I don't know much about cars so I don't know how to describe what it's doing. It seems like its not getting gas or its hesitating. It's especially bad when I'm at a stoplight. It seems like my car's going to die on me. I bought the car 2 years ago. It has always been taken care of (oil changes, etc.). I had the transmission rebuilt 1 year ago. I got a new water pump, fuel filter, and thermostat 1 month ago. The check engine light has been on since I bought it (my dad is collision repairman and said it just O2 sensor and "no big deal").
What should I have checked for the rough running? I've noticed it on and off for about 1 month but the last couple of days it has been constant. It seems okay in park but not in reverse or drive. It seems like last winter it was feeling the same only while stopped at stoplights.I don't know if this was the same thing. Any ideas??

Maybe you should take it to a local autoparts store and have them read the computer for you and see exactly what codes are there. If you're low on brake fluid, there may be a small leak somewhere, better get it checked. In my opinion all Taurus from 86 to 95 have a serious design flaw where the brake lines rot out together, right where they run up in front of the left rear wheel. If both of these lines go, which I have experienced, you have no brakes, the pedal will go to the floor. The dual-diagonal safety design is compromised by this design which includes a line for each system being rotted out by constant exposure to elements being thrown up by the left rear wheel. The no shift may have been caused by a faulty brakelamp switch or wire?
