1994 Ford Taurus engine cranks over but wont start, almost

Wifes car she says it started to smoke from under the hood then it just quit. Engine turns over and seems like it might almost start like its the timing but I think with the smoke she said was coming out it may be an electrical issue not sure where to start?

If engine was overheating and smoke was from coolant system
suspect a headgasket
if not check fuses
check for spark
check fuel and fuel pump

Yep looks like head gasket or cracked head, water is getting into the cylinder and can see steam coming out somewhere by exhaust manifold, this really bums me out. How hard is a head gasket to fix?

What do you have for an engine size?
And will try to get you the steps for removing and replacing the gasket
