2002 ford ranger was ahving problems starting, and it turned out to be a dead battery. But still with the new battery the truck may at times be slow to start, like three to four seconds. I had the altenator checked and its charging fine. Is this normal or could still be something wrong with the truck other that the battery I replaced?

Make sure that the replacement battery is the proper amp size for your vehicle. Verify that the starter is in good condition by doing an amp draw.
