I am about to attempt a front brake job on my '92 Ranger, and am wondering if any special tools are required to remove/install caliper etc.. I plan on replacing the rotors and probably the calipers as well as repack the bearings. Firestone wanted 750 BUCKS to do all of the above. Thanks in advance for any help.

LOL! I told Firestone the exact same thing! I've done some brake work before, but it has been pretty limited. I was mainly wondering if there was anthing needed other than standard sockets/allen wrench when removing the caliper etc, or anything in particular that can cause problems when doing brake work on this vehicle. Thanks.

I have changed my brakes every time since I got the truck (97 Ranger 4x4). The only tools I needed was a socket and wrench. Two bolts hold the assembly on. After removing the two bolts, the whole thing lifts off. Just make sure you have a C clamp to open the gap when you go to put the calipers with the new pads on. Go slow on the clamp so you don't blow a seal.

Firestone might have wanted to turn the rotors and cycle the old brake fluid with some new. Still seems too much.

I hope this helps.
