My ranger 3.0 v6 seems to cut out in power on a grade and gets stuck and jolts 3 to 4 times like the fuel pump fails and chokes for some reason. It does it on a grade or excelerating fast. It reminds me of someone who can't drive stick, how the truck jolts. I took it to a couple mechanics that can't seem to find the problem. It is driving me nuts. Should I just change the fuel pump? I'm going crazy with the issue. Money is short these days in recession.

Fuel pump pressure and volume test need to be done before replacing a good working fuel pump
take a fuel sample from the fuel rail and test for water
