Maybe someone can help me, I have a 98 ranger with the 2.5 litre engine. MY check engine light is on due to a high input flow detected through the EGR. So far, I have spent over 200 dollars to try to fix this. I bought a differential pressure feedback sensor, and that didnt do it, so today, I bought an EGR vacuum solenoid, and that didnt work either. The gas cap looks to be sealing properly as well. I got 3 mechanics scratching their heads as to why the stupid light is still on with no answers yet. Someone help me please before I really get in trouble for not having the truck inspected.

What are the actual codes you're getting? Does the code pop up as some as you start the truck once it's been cleared? Please advise. Clean the pipe going from the E.G.R. Valve to the manifold, there is an orifice in it that gets plugged w/carbon. Let us know how you make out w/that. Use Brake Cleaner or Carb Cleaner & compressed air.

The code my truck computer is giving me is P1401, which is manufacturer specific. When I clear the code, I can drive anywhere and the doce will stay off, however, if I am to shut my truck off after clearing it and driving it, The very next time the truck is started it spits the same P1401 code out again.
