01 Ford Ranger 4X4

I having trouble getting the 4X4 to work it will not do nothing when the knob is turned. I have replaced the shift motor but it did not help I also have checked the fuses none of them is blown

I know where u r talking bout but how do u unconnect it I took the little plastic cover off of it but that was it

U said u could tell me how to fix it so if u don't mind pls tell me how to fix it and is the only way to unconnect it is to take the seat out and roll back the carpet
