Engine Performance problem
1994 Ford Probe 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 244k miles

despite a full tune up, except ignition wires, engine misses for split second and sometimes unresponsive to throttle inputs. Performance is like a 4cyl engine, ok compression and frequent oil changes and full transmission filter change and full flush, have not cured the problem, fuel pressure 22psi, at idle. My question is, does the ignition wires need to be changed, the wires are very hot, laser thermometer, indicates 180 degrees F in spots, overall 140 degrees F. Internal resistance is within specs.

Think problem is fuel pressure needs to 40-43psi KOEO. Pull vac line off pressure regulator if pressure goes to specs. Replace if not pump. Was fuel filter changed?

New fuel filter installed and new regulator, pulled vacuum hose on regulator and pressure only increased to 30psi
