Speedometer is not showing proper speed. When you start off you are doing aprox 30 mph before needle starts to move, then seems to be showing about 30 mph more than your going. Also odometer&trip meter does not work. Is this the speed sensor or trans sensor or spedo cable? My sons first car and going college on 8-22-08 just bought car from privite party on 8-19-08. Can you help me asap?

Could be a faulty VSS (vehicle speed sensor). Does the trans shift properly? If so the VSS may be ok and it is a problem in the dash or wiring. The VSS has to be sending a good signal to the PCM for it to shift the trans properly, if the VSS is the issue, the trans most likely would be shifting erratic as well
