Engine Cooling problem
1990 Ford Mustang V8 Two Wheel Drive Manual 230K miles

I suddenly noticed temperature rise fluctuating for no exact cause from 170 degrees where it normally remained to 220, always in the normal range. It bounces between these 2 temperatures when idled, running on the highway regardless of how much water is in the radiator. I keep it full but noticed since the problem, that it loses a gallon a week with no evidence of leaks. Changed the thermostat with a motorcraft and no difference. Belts turning everything as far as I can see.
I am the original owner, engine's maintained and runs great, but it does have 230 thousand miles on it.

Hi pdigesu, Welcome to 2carpros and TY for the donation

I keep it full but noticed since the problem, that it loses a gallon a week with no evidence of leaks. If there's no external leaks could be burning in the cylinders-Try having it block and pressure tested
