2000 Ford Focus Loud growl and inside the car vibration

Since purchasing this car two years ago there has always been a growl noticed primarialy when in the car. The growl or vibration follows engine speed but the growl isn't noticed in the engine compartment. When shifting the growl drops in frequency. There is more growl turning right than turning left but it does exist in both directions.

Sounds like the motor mounts may be bad. Do you hear any "thump" noises if you give it gas hard? If so it is the engine jumping around.

Thanks! Your answer is dead correct. I took it to the dealer and they said the same thing. Now I don't feel bad letting them repair it!
