Oil gauge

I have a ford f150 lariet 4x4 215000 miles. All of the sudden I was driving the truck and the oil gauge shot down and the light came on, when we where driving we hit a bump and the gauge came back up to normal, could it be a bad connection or what could it be?

Check the wire comming from the sending unit. The wire could be loose or could be hitting the exaust manifold making it ground out.
