Hello, I just purchased this truck used, the other day when I was driving it the mini info/odometer center display quit. I suspected a fuse which I replaced but the one that I removed appeared fine. When I put the key in after the new fuse center showed briefly then went blank again. The new fuse appears OK. I have found online at some forums that this has happened with other f-150 owners. Everything else seems to work fine and the truck runs great. Any suggestions? Does it harm the truck to drive it with this situation?

Hi jess953141, Welcome to 2carpros and TY for the donation

The probable causes of such -could be the instrument cluster if the message center is displaying blank data- you'll be okay all it does is provide information other then driveabilty and performace problem-such as the compass, distance to empty, door ajar, with the exception of the charging system

Normal Operation
The message center switch communicates the requested switch function to the instrument cluster through circuits 1411 (GY/OG) and 1396 (VT/WH).

Possible Causes

circuit 1396 (VT/WH) open or short to ground
circuit 1411 (GY/OG) open or short to ground
instrument cluster
message center switch
