When I am idling (not in park) my oil pressure gauge will drop. As soon as I let off the brake it comes back up.

My truck has also developed a knocking in the last 24 hours. I didn't know if it is related.

Thanks so much!

Well it probably is not a good idea to drive it if knocking is persistent. If you really are having a problem feeding oil through the crankshaft, and up to the camshaft (probably a OHC or DOHC) then you can score the bearings or even the journals and cause rapid wear on the engine. Possibility something is clogged in the pump or more likely the filter and the filter bypass has kicked in. What oil pressure did you experience at idle, 1500 and 2500 rpm. I am sure ford gave you the lovely guage with no markings so just estimate in 1/8ths of the guage. Each 1/8th should be around 10psi. When does it knock?
