This guy that supposedly worked for a Ford dealership garage said that there is a known problem with the butterflies not opening properly when you shoot the gas to a 4.2L V6 (99 model). Is there anyone out there that can confirm this? Personally, I am thinking that my problem is plug wires. They are new but not OEM. When my truck comes up to operating temp, the truck wants to sputter a little when accelerating out of each gear (it's a stick).

This does occur but I've only heard of it a few times. It's easy enough to manually move the trottle lever to see if it moves freely and look for any wear on the pivot shaft.
Could be a throttle position sensor too. Have you changed you fuel filter recently highly overlooked item that can consume peoples wallets at repair facilites.
