I have a 97 Ford F-150. Recently it started shaking and the check engine light started blinking, the more gas I gave it the more it would rumble. I took it to a dealership and they said it was misfiring so they replaced a spark plug. 40 miles later it started doing it again. Another mechanic fixed it and also said it was a spark plug. I then replaced all spark plugs with motorcraft. It was running fine and now the check engine light is back on but its steady and doesnt blink, and still, on occasion it will do that shaking nonsense again. What do I need to do? Help a brotha out please.

What you need to do is go to Autozone and get the computer scanned for code/s its a free service. This is your starting point finding out what's causing the CEL to come on-Right now you have an engine management system problem

Check the harmonic balancer
my 93 started shaking like a wet dog-I could rotate the outer ring by hand
replaced it -no more shaking
